For a spring birthday dinner or Easter brunch, it only takes a few supplies and inspiration from nature to create a special gathering. Whether for big occasions or everyday gatherings, thoughtfully setting the table can elevate your time together. Here are some tips for creating a simple garden gathering.
Color palette & inspiration
Depending on the season, the colors of nature are constantly inspiring. For this birthday, fresh pinks, purples, yellows and greens reflect the beauty of early spring flowers and new life.

Table décor
Whatever the gathering, it doesn’t take too many items to create different looks. Invest in quality linens, interesting dinnerware with different details, stemmed and stemless drinkware, flatware, and various candles and holders. Balance shapes and textures.

For this birthday look, white linen, scalloped plates, vintage silverware, and copper tealight holders create a feminine and warm aesthetic.
Centerpiece
For a simple centerpiece, embellish a cake with natural elements like flowers, herbs, or fruit. To reduce prep time, consider making a boxed cake or ordering a plain cake through your local bakery and then decorate it yourself.

For this cake, I used various cut flowers from Whole Foods and a raw edge wood platter. Other pretty options this season include pansies and thyme (both of which are non-toxic). For non-edible flowers, remember to wrap the stems in plastic wrap to keep the cake food-safe.
Festive elements
For birthdays, using pretty wrapping paper and oversized balloons are a fun final touch. For this birthday I used metallic ribbon and floral paper to tie everything together.
